I’ve had problems with this scripture since I was about 9 or 10 and Dad was a minister in a pentecostal church. What I witnessed there was not, in my opinion, Biblical, it had more to do with being in the “in-crowd” and was a status symbol. Thank you for your very helpful study on this passage. All too often too many people use this passage as a stumbling block to others.
