A Word From Bruce

Greetings Church! I am so honored and blessed to be called as your new minister. My family of
Tom, Lynn, Vickie, and I are looking forward to joining you in ministry on July 1st.
As you may have already read, I grew up in Bellefontaine, Ohio. I have been blessed to be
married for the last eight years to Tom Bowerman-Jett and we have been together for 16 years.
We make a great team as he knows how to fix seemingly anything, and I am always coming up
with new ideas and things to break. In addition, we care for my mom and dad. My mom has
dementia so having his support has been very important.

Serving goes to my heart and to my call to ministry. I love meeting people where they are and
also offering pastoral care and visits when needed. I have had the blessing to serve at First
Christian Church in Bellefontaine as Fellowship chair, Deacon chair, Elder, CYF Leader, and
Associate Pastor of Hospitality and Care. Most recently I have served as Pastor at First
Christian Church in Kenton, Ohio. I have also served at Camp Christian as the food service
director and in various other roles, and have served on the Regional Board for the Christian
Church in Ohio.

I believe the church is the people and that we are called to walk side by side in our lives. Life is
hard, but I believe the church of Jesus is a local body of believers on a mission to enlarge God’s
kingdom. I believe my call is that no matter what baggage we carry, we carry it together no
matter who we are.

I look forward to getting to meet, pray, and discern together on how we can be the church to
each other and to our community. Colossians 3:15 reminds us “Let the peace of Christ rule in
your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
